Project description

The overall objective (Impact) is to contribute to the strengthening of the partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Mauritius.

The specific objectives (Outcomes) are as follows:

  • (SO)1 - Support the implementation of the MIP
  • (SO)2 – (i) Support policy dialogues with the government and other key stakeholders, in key and emerging EU priority areas as well as in other ad-hoc subjects, through the organisation of events (conferences, seminars, workshops, and similar platforms), and (ii) Conduct short-term studies

Support to the adaptation of Mauritian private sector to EU sustainability requirements

Requirements

A. Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Sustainable Development or any related field with proven knowledge in environmental issues, sustainable business development, sustainable production and consumption and schemes related to due diligence, traceability or certification; knowledge of green procurement, energy and water efficiency, waste auditing, green building rating systems and eco construction, and overall good understanding of value chain development, among others, will be an asset.

B. General professional experience:

(i)   Must have a minimum of 12 years proven work experience on environmental/sustainability matters, green economy/waste management sectors, supply chain management.

C. Specific professional experience:

  • At least 5 years proven experience working with European businesses on sustainability issues
  • Thorough knowledge of the EU Green Deal and other sustainability legislations concerning the business sector (industry, financial sector and/or agriculture).
  • Must have at least 5 years experience in designing and delivering training.
  • Knowledge of the Mauritian economic sectors is an advantage.
D. Language skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate fluently in English (written and spoken).
  • French is an advantage but not a requirement.

Additional information

The Expert is expected to travel two (2) times to the location of assignment, during the execution of the contract.
