(Junior) Project Manager (m/w/d) for our Team "Democracy / Human Rights / Civil Society / Rule of Law"

Particip GmbH is managing projects and providing consultancy services with a focus on international development cooperation. We work for various international and national clients such as the European Commission or the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, coordinating interdisciplinary and multinational teams for short and long-term assignments in developing, transition and industrialised countries and supporting them with methodological and technical know-how.

Implementation of EC Framework Contracts in a highly dynamic environment.

Acquisition and implementation of international projects in various phases of the project cycle and in diverse sectors. Tasks include among others:

  • General management of contracts and projects
  • Defining composition of project teams: Identification and recruitment of international experts
  • Developing implementation methodologies
  • Preparing financial proposals
  • Technical, administrative, and financial backstopping of teams: Managing contacts with partners and clients, managing travel arrangements for international experts, processing payments to/from partners/ consultants/ clients
  • Financial management of project budgets, preparing financial reports
  • Assuring quality and assuming ultimate responsibility for all services and output delivered

Conditions requises


Academic background

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in development management, international relations, business administration, political science or any other relevant field


Experience
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years professional work experience in Project Management, preferably in an international (development) context (e.g. with NGOs, EC, foundations, private companies, etc.)
  • Experience with EU framework contract management would be a strong asset
  • Consultancy experience would be an asset
  • Experience or strong interest for projects in the following areas:
    • Human rights, democracy, gender equality, and rule of law
    • Enhancement of the role of civil society
    • Local Authorities & Decentralisation
    • Election observation

Soft skills
  • Willingness to acquire new knowledge and take responsibility
  • Willingness to work independently and ability to prioritise own tasks
  • Highly dynamic, pro-active, firm personality
  • Ability to work under pressure and towards multiple deadlines
  • Strong intercultural, communication and networking skills
  • Creativity and innovative spirit


IT skills
  • Very strong command of Word and Excel
  • Experience with knowledge management / database is an asset


Languages

  • French: Full professional working proficiency
  • English: Full professional working proficiency
  • German would be a strong asset
  • Other language would be an asset

This is a full-time position with physical presence at our office in Freiburg, Germany

Starting date: ideally February 2024
